2008 Herb Fowler Junior Championship

Eligibility
Entries are open to all junior amateur golfers age seventeen and
under, or those enrolled in and not yet graduated from high school.
There are no handicap index eligibility requirements. The field will be
limited to 164 players.
A mini-tournament will be held for golfers age 12 and
under. The mini-tournament field will be limited to 48 players. Players
aged 12 and under may compete in the regular 54-hole tournament
with the approval of the Tournament Director. All players so admitted
will compete in the age 13 and under division.
Amateur: All players must conform to the USGA Rules of Ama-
teur Status as specified in “The Rules of Golf.”
Format, Schedule
Competition will be 54 holes of stroke play. The mini-tournament
will consist of 21 holes of stroke play.
Monday, August 4, 2008 – 18 holes Stroke Play.
Tuesday, August 5, 2008 – 18 holes Stroke Play.
Cumulative scores will determine Wednesday starting times.
Wednesday, August 6, 2008 – 18 holes Stroke Play.
Cumulative scores will determine the 2008 Herb Fowler Champi-
ons and age division winners. Any ties will be decided immediately by
a sudden death play-off.
Prizes
Trophies and/or gift certificates will be awarded to the champion,
runner-up, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round medalist, flight winners, and flight
runner-up. Also, prizes will be awarded for individual hole contests. All
prizes will conform to USGA Rules of Amateur Status. Awards will be
presented following the completion of tournament play.
Rules of Golf
Play will be governed by the USGA “Rules of Golf,” or Local Rules
and Conditions so provided prior to the start of competition on each
day of the Championship. Questions will be settled by the Rules Com-
mittee for the Championship, whose decisions shall be final.
Non-Metal Spike Policy
It is a condition of the competition that shoes with either tradi-
tionally designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plas-
tic, etc.) or, regardless of design, spikes comprised either or partially
of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are
prohibited during the stipulated round.
Golf Balls; Drive Heads
Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Con-
forming Golf Balls and driver heads on the most current USGA List of
Conforming Driver Heads may be used. These lists are updated and
may be found on the USGA website at www.usga.org.
Distance Measuring Devices
In this Championship, a player may obtain distance information
by using a device that measures distance only. Use of a device de-
signed to measure other conditions is strictly prohibited.
Caddies; Transportation
Competitors may provide their own caddie for championship
rounds. Caddies are not available at Huron Hills Golf Course. Caddies
are not permitted during practice rounds.
Competitors are not permitted to use motorized transportation
during championship rounds, unless a physical limitation requires
transportation.
Starting Times
Competitors must be at their assigned tee and ready to begin
play at the time laid down by the committee. Competitors will be noti-
fied of their starting time by e-mail approximately one week prior to
the championship. The optional condition in Appendix I of the “Rules
of Golf” shall be in effect if a player arrives at their starting hole ready
to play within five minutes of starting time, the penalty shall be Two
Strokes instead of Disqualification.
Tournament Information
Information concerning parings, starting times, etc., will be post-
ed online at www.golfhuronhills.com approximately 7-14 days
prior to the tournament. If you have not received your information
within seven days of the event, it is the player’s responsibility to con-
tact Huron Hills Golf Course.
Refund Policy
Refunds will be granted according to the schedule below. The
Tournament Director reserves the right to grant exceptions to the
stated policy in situations including, but not limited to injury, illness,
and death in the family.
Registration
Registration is open to competitors beginning June 23, 2008.
Return entry forms by mail, fax, or in person to Huron Hills Golf
Course. The entry fee is $80.00, $40.00 for the mini-championship.
Application form and entry fee must both be received by July 28,
2008 to constitute complete registration.
